Fronius customers open up opportunities for welder training in India

Fronius clients create prospects for welding training in India.

“These 15 minutes can help a welder in India get trained.” was the eye-catching subject line for this year’s Fronius Customer Survey 2024. Participants in the survey helped potential welding professionals obtain the training they needed for their future careers by spending only 15 minutes sharing their requirements and wishes with the organisation. All of this is made possible by the FACT program and a donation of 275,000 Indian rupees on behalf of Fronius consumers.

The indications of a skilled worker shortage can be found in all areas. As a result, an increasing number of organizations who rely heavily on welding are compelled to educate their own specialists or are unable to fill openings. This is also the situation in India, where recent surveys rank the country tenth in the world for skilled labour shortages. Approximately 81% of Indian employers have difficulty filling openings at their companies.

Fronius Perfect Welding creates solutions in close collaboration with its customers, adhering to the philosophy of minimal training time combined with maximum handling to provide welders with even better training, support, and make their work easier, allowing them to achieve the best possible results. Fronius is actively addressing the scarcity of skilled labour through solutions such as TIG DynamicWire, Cobot cells, and the new Welducation Simulator. As a technological pioneer and solution-driven provider, the firm has consistently been at the forefront of industry advances. Fronius has now invited its customers to join in taking steps against the shortage of skilled workers.

Raising awareness through social incentives.

Customer surveys may be common, but they’re not exactly loved. Fronius Perfect Welding also wants to have a better understanding of its clients’ demands and preferences. When the Fronius Customer Survey was sent out in the spring of 2024, a small social incentive was included to assist keep it out of the ‘Deleted’ folder! Depending on the response, Fronius has committed to make a donation to India’s FACT program, providing financial assistance to participants furthering their training as professional welding specialists.

Tackling the skills shortage together

FACT stands for “Fronius & Academia Centre for Skill Training” and aims to address the skills gap. A 45-day course in Pune, India, taught by Fronius experts and industry professionals, provides selected participants with in-depth subject understanding as well as the soft skills essential to establish a professional foundation in the welding trade. Unfortunately, socioeconomic disparities prevent everyone in India from having equal access to the training opportunities. Participants in the program also come from underserved social groups who would otherwise have limited access to high-quality training. Since its inception in 2023, the program has already provided professional training to 85 students.

And this number is expected to rise in the future thanks to the generosity of Fronius consumers who replied to the survey in a large number. Their active engagement generated around 275,000 Indian rupees (approx. 3,300 euros), which Fronius Perfect Welding will donate to the FACT initiative on their behalf. Stefanie Helten and Robert Drumm (third and fourth from left) recently gave the contribution cheque to Yogesh Joshi and Umesh Jagtap (first and second from left in the picture), indicating that there is nothing standing in the way of training more welding specialists in India now.
