Kennametal Showcases Newest Innovative Mining and Wear Protection Solutions at International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) India 2024
Kolkata, October 23, 2024 — Kennametal India Limited will showcase its latest tooling and wear protection solutions for mining applications at the International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) India on 23-26 October at Science City Exhibition Ground, Kolkata.
The latest product offerings include two new picks to meet diverse customer demands as well as an innovative round drill steel system designed to improve efficiency and safety.
- PrimePoint™, a new pick featuring a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tip, enables longwall operators to mine longer. With increased hardness over traditional tungsten carbide, abrasive wear to the PCD tip is significantly reduced, increasing uptime.
- Developed to meet a different need, PlusPoint™ picks utilize an extra tough grade. These picks were designed to penetrate the hardest of rocks when continuous miner operators unexpectedly encounter adverse geological conditions, minimizing downtime and reducing tool usage.
- The Defender™ Round Drill Steel System was designed to combat challenges miners face when poor roof geology and water combine to pose serious safety risks. Maintaining a lower noise level and generating less dust compared to stackable hex steel, this new system also features:
- Thicker round steel that is stackable and repairable compared to upset steel.
- Self-aligning, hands-free chuck and driver
- Spline-drive adapters that transfer rotation to the inside hex of steel pieces, enabling a machine to drill larger and longer holes faster.
Kennametal’s surface mining solutions will also be showcased at the exhibition. These include blocks, picks and conical tools with the industry’s first taper tip for surface miners yielding new levels of performance and productivity, as well as KenCast™ wear protection solutions that can help boost equipment lifespan by up to six times, reducing costly repairs and downtime.
Additionally, Kennametal will also display tooling and wear solutions for underground mining applications, including continuous miners, road headers, longwall shearers, feeder breakers, drills, and roof bolters that can help customers achieve greater gains.
